Crypto e blockchain…il cane che si morde la coda

Forse fuorviati dal Bitcoin, dove in effetti l’una (blockchain) è funzionale alle altre (Bitcoin) e dalla lunga battaglia legale fra Ripple e SEC per ragioni giuridiche e non tecniche, sovente sui media si perde di vista la indissolubilità del binomio crypto-blockchain .. le crypto sono essenziali per il funzionamento della blockchain.. e senza blockchain, no crypto… con le criptovalute si pagano i servizi sulla blockchain, essenzialmente delle registrazioni. Senza crypto le registrazioni o sono gratis (difficile, sul pianeta i benefattori scarseggiano) oppure si pagano con la carta di credito. Caro e complicato.

Poi certo, sino a che le uniche scritture sulla blockchain sono proprio gli scambi di crypto sembra il cane che si morde la coda ed è complicato capire il rapporto fra le due. Il caso del Bitcoin in effetti non aiuta: la blockchain del BTC non serve altro che alla crypto del Bitcoin, e non si intravvedono nuovi sviluppi. Per ora almeno, non molto diverso per la star di questa calda estate boreale, XRP, in attesa del secondo round con la SEC. Ma completamente diverso per la blockchain Ethereum che di fatto funge da service per diverse altre blockchain, e dove si paga con la crypto ETH. Ma se decolassero NFT e smart contracts la differenza emergerebbe con molta più chiarezza. Si registra uno smart contract o una NFT sulla blockchain e si paga in crypto per il servizio. Chiaro e Semplice.

Perhaps misled by Bitcoin, where in fact one (blockchain) is functional to the other (Bitcoin) and by the long legal battle between Ripple and SEC for legal and non-technical reasons, the media often lose sight of the indissolubility of the crypto-blockchain binomial .. Cryptos are essential for the blockchain to work. And without blockchain, no crypto… With crypto you pay for services on the blockchain, essentially registrations. Without crypto, either registrations are free (difficult, on the planet benefactors are scarce) or you pay by credit card. Expensive and complicated.

Then, of course, as long as the only writings on the blockchain are the crypto transactions it looks like the dog that bites its tail and it is complicated to understand the relationship between the two. The case of Bitcoin does not actually help: the BTC blockchain serves nothing but the Bitcoin crypto, and there are no new developments in sight. For now, at least, not much different for the star of this hot boreal summer, XRP, waiting for the second round with the SEC. But completely different for the Ethereum blockchain which in fact acts as a service for several other blockchains, paying with the crypto ETH. But if NFTs and smart contracts took off, the difference would emerge much more clearly. You register a smart contract or a NFT on the blockchain and pay in crypto for the service. Straightforward.
